Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Police Department has launched the second session of its Spanish Citizens Police Academy, giving Spanish-speaking community members an opportunity to learn more about the department and its operations.
According to the department, Tulsa Police Chief Dennis Larsen welcomed participants before the first session began. Mingo Valley Traffic Officer Hartley then provided education and answered questions about common traffic-related issues.
The session also included a presentation from Lt. Moudy and Officer Houck of the K-9 Unit, who discussed the unit’s history and current operations before demonstrating the capabilities of K-9 Knox.
Officer Parga and Detective Zuniga assisted throughout the session by facilitating questions and conversations with the Spanish-speaking participants.
Over the next month, academy participants will receive instruction on crime investigation techniques and learn about the Tulsa Police Department’s Special Operations Team and Homicide Unit.
