Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa Police Citizen Police Academy began this year with an introduction from Lt. Sokoloski, followed by an overview of the Special Operations Team (SOT) from Captain Eckert.

The session focused on the history, structure, and tools used by SOT to handle high-stress situations.

Founded in 1979, the Special Operations Team was created in response to the need for a specialized unit to address high-priority incidents.

Today, the team consists of 53 officers in various roles, along with civilian support staff.

During the class, participants learned about the team’s operations and had the opportunity to explore the vehicles and equipment used during callouts.
