Tulsa, OK – On February 13, 2025, Mayor Nichols issued an executive order launching the Neighborhood Conditions Index (NCI) Pilot Program, aimed at strengthening Tulsa’s neighborhoods through strategic revitalization efforts.
The program will introduce a cross-departmental task force to pilot neighborhood improvement strategies, facilitate community workshops, and foster collaboration between residents, city departments, and community partners.
“As we work to make Tulsa the safest big city in America, we must strengthen the foundation of our communities and neighborhoods,” Mayor Nichols said.
“Our goal is to engage and work with citizens and use data-driven approaches like NCI to address disparities and improve outcomes in Tulsa.”
The NCI, which scores neighborhoods across nine key areas, will serve as a tool to empower residents with data to guide improvements.
The task force will oversee neighborhood workshops, coordinate resources, and implement targeted initiatives such as animal services, streetlight repairs, and beautification projects.
Public information sessions will be held in the coming months, inviting eligible neighborhood associations to apply for participation.
The pilot program’s goal is to create a pathway for lasting neighborhood improvements and produce a final report by March 31, 2026.
