City of Tulsa encourages safe disposal of household pollutants to protect the environment and community safety

Tulsa, OK -The City of Tulsa is encouraging residents to dispose of household pollutants safely to help protect the environment and ensure community safety.

Many everyday items, such as paints, batteries, cleaners, and pesticides, contain chemicals that can harm local waterways and pose risks to public health if not disposed of properly.

Using the Household Pollutant Collection Facility is a simple way to help reduce these risks. Proper disposal of hazardous materials prevents harmful chemicals from polluting rivers and groundwater, protecting the local environment.

It also lowers the risk of accidental exposure to harmful substances in homes, keeping families safer. Furthermore, the facility supports waste reduction efforts by ensuring that pollutants are safely managed and, when possible, recycled.

The Household Pollutant Collection Facility is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to visit for safe disposal of items that are not suitable for regular trash collection.

For more information on what’s accepted at the facility, visit www.cityoftulsa.org/HPCF. Your participation helps ensure a cleaner, safer Tulsa for everyone.
